CALGARY (May 5, 2012) — The Ribstone
Creek Brewery (RCB) brought home a special honour from the 2012
Calgary International Beerfest this past weekend.
Thousands of beer fans from across
Western Canada attended the two-day event at Calgary's BMO Centre to
sample more than 200 different beers from dozens of different
brewers.
RCB's Ribstone Creek Lager earned the
silver medal in the category of Best Domestic Lager, beating out
brews from several larger brewing companies.
“We couldn't have been more excited
to receive an award at just our second-ever beer show,” said RCB
President Don Paré. “The recognition has given our entire team a
real boost. A silver medal is great, but we think our investors and
all Alberta beer drinkers deserve gold, so we'll be working hard to
make some improvements between now and next year's show.”
The RCB booth proved to be one of the
most popular of the show, with curious crowds consistently lined up
for samples.
The RCB founders wish to thank the
organizers of the Calgary International Beerfest for their hard work
and professionalism in putting on an excellent show.
“We'd also like to thank all our
staff the volunteers who chipped in helping us prepare for the
Calgary show,” said RCB C.F.O. Alvin Gordon. “As a small startup
brewery, we often count on the help of friends and family members to
keep the wheels turning.”
