They have a building and they have a beer, now it’s just a matter of getting the final pieces in place.
Renovations on the Ribstone Creek Brewery started this week – the Edgerton building was formerly an automotive garage – and the Yellowhead Brewery, an Edmonton company, has a contract to brew the Ribstone Creek lager, which is already available at Original Joe’s in Lloydminster and the Edgerton Hotel. It’s been quite a process to get to this point, said company president Don Paré. When the four friends – Paré, Chris Fraser, Cal Hawkes and Alvin Gordon – dreamt it up in 2009, they didn’t realize what a huge learning curve it would be to get a rural craft brewery up and running.
