Local
brewery aims to keep community strong

The
Ribstone Creek Brewery, in Edgerton, is the first factory of its kind
in the area, a business that is aimed toward keeping the small town
strong, while giving something back to the community.
Four
lifelong friends, Cal Hawkes, Al Gordon, Don Paré, and Chris Fraser,
came up with the idea during a night of drinking.
“We
were sitting around drinking rum and trying to figure out what we
could do with Alvin’s building in Edgerton. To put something back
in the community, and also still have a business made profitable, and
maybe make a business that would add value,” said ParĂ©, president
of Ribstone Creek Brewery. “We did want to do rum but there’s a
five year waiting period while it cures.”
