Ribstone Creek brew debut an incredible success

RCB co-founder Don Paré talks beer with patrons
at the Rocky Mountain Wine & Beer Festival
EDMONTON — The Ribstone Creek crew was hoping for a positive response when they rolled out their first-ever brew, but nobody could have predicted the kind of success that flowed their way during the Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival last weekend.

The RCB guys tapped the first keg on Thursday evening for a special charity even at Edmonton's Shaw Conference Centre, giving Alberta it's first official taste of their product.

The show kicked off in earnest on Friday night, with thousands of guests making their way through a wide variety of vendors offering samples of food, wine and beer.

Beer proved be one of the main attractions and the RCB guys soon found themselves overwhelmed by thirsty customers.

"To be honest, we were caught a little off guard by the sheer volume of people lining up at our booth," said RCB co-founder Alvin Gordon. "Folks were lined up 30 deep at times — and some came back for third and fourth servings. The response at this show surpassed all of our wildest expectations."

The RCB guys decided to a debut a light-tasting, German-style lager as their first brew and many patrons remarked on the smooth taste and easy drinkability.

"(Ribstone Creek) was hands down the best beer at the show," said one patron on Twitter.
