Brewery crew encouraged by show of community support

EDGERTON, Alta. — About 70 people came out for a public information night in Edgerton on May 1 where the founding members of the Ribstone Creek Brewery laid out their plans for establishing a beer production facility.

The original RCB foursome of Alvin Gordon, Don Paré, Chris Fraser and Cal Hawks were joined by veteran brewmaster David Beardsell, who travelled from Kamloops, B.C. to attend Saturday's meeting.

Beardsell has been working closely with the RCB team in recent months, assisting in the development of a new beer recipe.

After some brief introductions, the RCB team rolled out their plans for the new brewery to be located in Edgerton. The presentation included information on marketing, distribution and product development. The audience was also given the opportunity to ask questions.

Beardsell, the former president of beer brewing at Calgary's Big Rock Brewery, talked in depth about the quality of water in the Edgerton area.

"When I first analyzed the water samples, I though these guys were nuts," Beardsell told the audience. "But after creating some test batches using the local water, I was proven totally wrong. We will be very capable of producing a high-quality beer using this water."

The RCB crew are exploring the idea of hiring another brewer to produce their recipe on a contract basis for a few months during the construction of their own facility in Edgerton.

As the founders continue to structure the company, more information will be made available to potential investors.
