EDGERTON, Alta. — The Ribstone Creek Brewery project continues to steam ahead with many exciting developments in early 2010.
In February, research firm Leger Marketing released a market study featuring detailed demographic information from the Wainwright-Edgerton-Chauvin area.
Working closely with the RCB team, Leger conducted telephone interviews with over 120 randomly selected individuals and the results confirmed a keen interest in a locally-brewed product.
In mid March, RCB contracted a third-party brewer in Kamloops, B.C. to produce a small quantity of beer while experimenting with different types of water and other special ingredients.
RCB is currently doing taste testing to determine a desired flavour, texture and appearance.
"Our testing is quite diverse," said RCB spokesman Alvin Gordon. "We're covering all age groups, sexes, urban versus rural, students versus the rest of us working stiffs, etc..."
When the testing is complete and a recipe decided on, the RCB crew expects to contract out the brewing for a few months until construction is complete on the new Ribstone Creek Brewery facility in Edgerton, Alta. A likely candidate for the brewing contract has already been identified.
"Once a recipe for our beer is finalized, it will be like the Col. Sanders chicken recipe — unique, tasty and secret," said Gordon.
The RCB team expects to have it's own brewing facility Edgerton constructed and in full production by summer 2010.
